HRSD Ministry launches Labor Market Skills Survey initiative

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) launched the Labor Market Skills Survey initiative for 2024, in cooperation with the World Bank Group and research firm Nielsen IQ.

The initiative seeks to align labor market skills with private sector demands, identify employment challenges faced by establishments, and adapt to technological advancements to boost the productivity of national talent in the private sector.

It also aims to develop an integrated skills system that matches sector needs and employer requirements while directing training and education programs to meet market demands, according to a statement by the Ministry of HRSD.

The initiative focuses on collecting data from diverse labor market stakeholders, including businesses, to assess the skills in demand, human resources practices, training policies, and challenges encountered in attracting, hiring, developing, and utilizing talent. It also involves the participation of individuals, both citizens and expatriates.

The surveys aim to determine their skills and the challenges they face in the labor market with the aim of raising skills and productivity at the national level, reducing skills gaps, and anticipating future trends in the labor market. The initiative will also support decisions, policies, and programs related to the educational and professional paths of national cadres.

The Ministry further stated that the initiative aims to enhance workforce productivity and performance while making the labor market more appealing to both local and global talent.

Additionally, it seeks to provide essential information on in-demand skills to government agencies, the private sector, educational and training institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
