Heavy rain expected till Sunday

Most regions of the Kingdom will witness moderate to heavy rain from Thursday till Sunday, according to a statement of The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection.

The authority has forecast that the rain would be accompanied by thunder, sandstorm and snowfall, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The regions expected to experience moderate to heavy rain on Friday and Saturday include Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, Allaith, Qunfudah and Thuwal while many other regions such as Al-Baha, Abha, Jazan, Al-Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, Hail, Al-Jouf and the Northern Border Region are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain and flashfloods on Saturday and Sunday.

The Civil Defense in Makkah region warned citizens and expatriates to take utmost caution and safety measures in the event of the continuing inclement weather in the region.
