The Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) is studying new projects to strengthen the internal network of the GCC countries and expand connection with Bahrain and Qatar, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing CEO Ahmed Al-Ebrahim.
The projects are under study by the relevant committees, he added.
Al-Ebrahim expects the next five years to witness a group or package of mega projects, totaling approximately $2 billion, from the authority’s investments.
He further explained that GCCIA has three major projects whose cost exceeds $1 billion, in addition to the link project with Iraq that costs $280 million.
