First blind councilor registers in Riyadh

Director of the Blind Charitable Society in Riyadh Mohammad Al-Shweiman registered himself as the first visually impaired member of the Riyadh Municipal Council after Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Abdulatif Al-Ashiekh appointed him to the position. Al-Shweiman has a BA in Shariah from Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University. He said he will be the voice of the Kingdom’s physically challenged.

He said he would provide transportation for them to public places and on the roads, appropriate to their needs as physically challenged, and he will seek to change the Saudi building code to make them easier to access.
Al-Shweiman is keen also to provide more places of entertainment to this segment. Although some entertainment is in place, he feels more could be provided.
He has much in scientific and work experiences and in serving the physically challenged. He is a journalist and accredited consultant, both locally and internationally, in strategic planning as well as an accredited trainer to develop activities for local establishments.
