Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, joined many of the corporate and government entities at the Car Free Day 2016.
The initiative was organised for the seventh consecutive year by Dubai Municipality, and Empower’s senior officials and employees took part by walking, cycling, or using public transport to commute to the work.
“Car Free Day falls in line with Empower’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, and we are proud to continuously support this initiative. We consider Car Free Day to be an opportunity for us to reassert our commitment to society and the environment by participating in this initiative,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, the CEO of Empower.“We are already making significant savings on carbon emissions through our operations as a sustainable entity and Car Free Day represents an opportunity for us to further extend our broader CSR mandate.”
Empower employees have been keen participants of Car Free Day in the past, choosing to use the Dubai Metro, public buses and other forms of transportation to get to and from the office on that designated day. As part of this year’s campaign, Empower encouraged its employees to use public transport to commute. The company arranged special buses to collect employees from designated locations around Dubai, to make it even easier to avoid getting behind the wheel on this day.
Car Free Day is a significant environmental initiativeconducted by Dubai Municipality every year.
Empower currently operates more than 1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
