Emerging Markets Payments (EMP), one of the leading payments processing companies in Africa and the Middle East, launches EMPay – an electronic bills payment solution for Point of Sale (POS) devices which will be available to EMP’s merchants and their customers.
After a successful pilot phase at Safeway stores across Jordan, EMP is ready to roll out its latest service to interested merchants. Customers will easily find a place to pay their bills as the new EMPay logo will clearly indicate where the service is available.
EMPay was well received by customers of Safeway who used the service to pay their bills. “Customer service is our first priority at Safeway, and we always aim to be the pioneers in providing all possible services under one roof to our customers. We are honoured to be the first company offering electronic bill payment in partnership with our e-payments service provider EMP” said Dr. Laith Abu Hilal, General Manager of Safeway.
Commenting on the new bill payment solution, Mr. Hassan Mayassi, CEO of EMP said: “We created EMPay using the new eFAWATEERcom service, which we are proud to host on behalf of the Central Bank of Jordan.”
“EMPay has proven its success at Safeway and we’re looking forward to reaching new users by enabling our service at many merchants’ POS devices.” added Mr. Mayassi.
Talking about EMPay using the eFAWATEERcom service, Mrs. Maha Al Bahou, Executive Manager, Payments Systems and Domestic Banking Operations Department at the Central Bank of Jordan, commented by saying: “Our main objective is to develop a safe and secure payment solution for bill issuing facilities and organizations. We’re delighted to be working with EMP to leverage their merchant network, which spans the Kingdom, to help make eFAWATEERcom available to a wider spectrum of users.”
On his part, CEO of Madfooatcom, Mr. Nasser Al Saleh, said: “as an operator of eFAWATEERcom, we are proud of our long standing partnership with EMP which enables us to continue to add value to the Jordanian market. We seek to increase the number of transactions and ticket size indirectly on POS in addition to the number of new users, benefitting from this service.”
