Embassy of Australia holds arts exhibition

The Embassy of Australia in Jordan on Sunday hosted an art exhibition that brings together indigenous Australian and Jordanian Arts works based on the theme, "A Sense of Place". The event was held in cooperation with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine, the Japinkga Gallery of Australia, and Jacaranda Images of Jordan. The exhibition displayed arts works from Jordan and Australia based on common theme, demonstrating that art is an enduring from brigning people and cultures closer together.  It also celebrated the work of several prominent Australian and Jordanian artists including Edward Blitner, a contemporary Arnhem Land artist; Ammar Khamash, an avid conservationist of traditional architecture in addition to painting; Jeannie Mills Pwerle, an innovative artist of the Utopia Homelands; and Fouad Mimi, known for his paintings of tranquil Jordanian landscape.  To commemorate the exhibition, the Australian Embassy in Jordan announced the donation of two indigenous Australian Art works for Japingka Gallery Australia to the permanent collection of the Jordan National Gallery of fine Arts.  The exhibition will be open to the public today at Building 2 of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts from the 8th to 30th of July 2019 with free admission.
