Demand for Zamzam water ‘will be met’

The National Water Company, the main operator of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Zamzam Water Project, said it would meet the rise in demand during the month of Ramadan by increasing the capacity of its production lines.
The project has produced more than 95 million cans of Zamzam water since its inception, a local publication reported recently.
Saeed bin Mosqir Al-Wadee, project director, said the company had drawn up plans in advance to increase daily production and supply by 100 percent. The operation is run on a 24-hour basis with customer service operators available to guide beneficiaries and respond to questions or concerns, he said.
He said these efforts are in line with the vision and directives of the late King Abdullah to provide Zamzam water to all visitors at the holy sites using the latest pumping, packaging and distribution systems.
Al-Wadee urged customers to refrain from dealing with street vendors and to purchase Zamzam from official service points available at airports, including King Abdullah International Airport in Jeddah and Madinah airport. Pilgrims can obtain packaged Zamzam prepared for cargo and shipment at a nominal fee, he said.
The plant includes four production lines with a maximum production capacity of 200,000 cans a day. It contains a central warehouse that accommodates 1.8 million cans. The total storage capacity of the production reservoirs is about 10,000 cubic meters. The Kudai and Al-Sabeel reservoirs can hold 26,000 cubic meters.
The project has nearly 300 workers, with additional staff hired for peak seasons to meet the increased demand from pilgrims and citizens.
