Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended sincere congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques as Saudi Arabia won the right to host Expo 2030 in Riyadh, the state-run SPA reported.
This followed the announcement of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) on granting Riyadh the right to host Expo 2030 between Oct. 1, 2030, and March 31, 2031.
“The Kingdom’s winning to host Expo 2030 comes to consolidate its pioneering and pivotal role and the international trust it enjoys, which make it an ideal destination for hosting the most prominent global forums such as Expo," said the Crown Prince.
He reiterated the Kingdom’s resolve to present an exceptional and unprecedented version in the history of hosting such a global forum with the highest levels of innovation, and to contribute by playing an active and positive role for a bright tomorrow for humanity, by providing a global platform that harnesses the latest technologies and brings together the brightest minds, with the aim of optimally investing in opportunities and offering solutions to the challenges facing our planet today.
"Furthermore, our hosting of Expo 2030 will coincide with the year of realizing the goals and plans of Saudi Vision 2030. The expo is a wonderful opportunity to share with the world the lessons learned from this unprecedented transformation journey, the Crown Prince stated.
He stressed that Riyadh is ready to embrace the world during Expo 2030, and that it will fulfill its obligations included in its bid to the participating countries to achieve the main theme of the exhibition, “The Era of Change: Together We Look to the Future,” and its sub-topics, “A Better Tomorrow, Climate Action, and Prosperity for All.” ", and harnessing all capabilities.
In a secret ballot, the Saudi capital was picked by a majority of 119 votes by the member states of the Paris-based BIE. Busan and Rome competed to host the next World Expo.
