In a move to maximize the philanthropic impact in the Kingdom, the 3rd Charity Excellence Awards was announced at a press conference here on Saturday.
The aim of this new national award is to bring into spotlight the positive impact of the work of all community, voluntary and charitable organizations.
According to Dr. Hasan Bin Shraim, head of the Supervising Committee of the Charity Excellence Awards, the award shares the same goals of Vision 2030, a matter that helps improve charitable and philanthropic work dramatically. The goals include spreading a culture of quality assurance in philanthropic work, raising the bar of institutionalized work, encouraging healthy competition, adopting innovation, and continuous learning.
“We have Vision 2030 that gives more say to the civil society in shaping the future of the Kingdom. Institutionalization and quality assurance of the local philanthropic sector are the key factors to maximize its social impact so that the sector helps reach the long-term development goals of Vision 2030,” he said.
“The third edition of the award has been improved. All entries can be submitted electronically. Interested participants are encouraged to apply online at sea.sa. The website includes all the details regarding the timeline, selection process, areas of interest and everything else related to the award,” said Amjad Al-Tuwairesh, executive director of the award. Philanthropy has always played a crucial role in Saudi society.
The Saudi philanthropic sector is focusing more on the elimination of the root causes of social problems, not just the suffering caused by those problems. “The big question to be asked here is how can we maximize the philanthropic impact in the Kingdom,” said Dr. Hasan bin Shraim.
The awards will be for Best Charity Organization, Best Charitable Project and Best Creative Idea. The three-category award comes as part of Al-Subaie Foundation initiatives.
