Alqassim Hamidaddin extends his championship points lead in the 2015/2016 UAE NGK Racing Series

Dubai Autodrome hosted Round 4 of the 2015/2016 UAE NGK National Race Day this past weekend on Friday, 19th of February, featuring championship races for Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, UAE Sportbike Championship, Radical ME Cup, NGK Racing Series and Formula Gulf 1000.

Q Racing Team driver Alqassim Hamidaddin finished both races of the day on the podium in second position. The day did not start well for the team as Alqassim had a big spin in qualifying narrowly missing the wall at the end of the main straight which resulted in him starting race 1 from last position. However, when the race started, Alqassim was able to fight his way up the field passing 10 cars to finish in second place. Q Racing Team manager, Hani Okaily added “It was not an easy start to the day, we had brake problems throughout the weekend. In qualifying, we almost hit the wall when the front brakes got stuck locked approaching turn one. Thank God, we were able to recover during the race and Alqassim did an excellent job to finish both races on the podium”

Alqassim managed to extend his championship points lead to 120 points, 18 points ahead of Greek driver Alexandros Annivas, and 20 points ahead of British driver Will Morisson. With two rounds and four races remaining in the championship, Alqassim is in a very good position to secure the championship, and he said “Thank God I was able to collect valuable points this round and currently lead the championship, God willing I will continue to do so and secure the title next month. I have to thank my sponsors 3M and Motorcraft Oils & Parts, and my media partners Saudi Auto and UTURN, and I hope to win the championship to honor their support.”

The NGK Racing Series will continue in March 11 for round five at Dubai Autodrome, and then on March 18 for the final round six at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
