AED 1.5 million Range Rover Sentinel armoured vehicle wows the crowds at Intersec Dubai

With large numbers of regional security industry professionals and crowds of trade buyers from across the wider Middle East scouring the halls at Intersec 2017, for the latest in security solutions, international brands were pulling out the stops to attract interest in their exhibits at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Among those drawing the most interest was Jaguar Land Rover's svelte and sleek armoured response vehicle, the AED 1.5 million Range Rover Sentinel, in the Homeland Security and Policing section. Though it looks like a luxury SUV at first glance, like its reputed stablemates, the Sentinel is one tough customer that can pack a considerable punch!

The Range Rover Sentinel is a purpose-built armoured vehicle, specifically designed for life as a luxury high-performance SUV and doubles as an armoured escape vehicle when required.

To the untrained eye Range Rover Sentinel looks and performs like a luxury civilian vehicle until it’s called into action. The Sentinel's six-part safety cell can withstand sudden and prolonged attack from 7.62mm high-velocity armour-piercing incendiary rounds, 15kg lateral TNT blasts and multiple DM51 grenade attacks.

The Range Rover Sentinel is designed and built by Land Rover, and is exhaustively tested by specialist protection and ballistics experts, simulating real-word attacks under controlled conditions at our own indoor and outdoor test facilities.

John Graham, the Global Strategy Manager for Armoured Vehicles at Jaguar Land Rover said the company is hoping to make further inroads in the regional market through the Range Rover Sentinel.

“We’re particularly interested in reaching police and security services, government bodies, embassies and very high net worth persons with security requirements,” said Graham.  “There’s a growing awareness that OEM armoured products are superior in terms of holistic protection than aftermarket vehicles, and threats are becoming more severe resulting in a need for higher levels of armoured protection.”

Intersec 2017 is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and officially supported by Dubai Police, the Dubai Civil Defence, and Dubai Police Academy.  More information is available at: www.intersecexpo.com
