Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC) is celebrating a ‘Year of Giving’ after a consistent series of humanitarian events and initiatives to help less fortunate members of the community. Promoting a philosophy of generosity and charity, JRCC donations and activities have benefitted orphans, the elderly, cancer patients, low income families and many more.
In keeping with the declaration of the UAE ‘Year of Giving’ by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, JRCC granted orphans 22 wishes through taking part in the ‘Sidrat Al Omniyat’ initiative organised by the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF).
The centre also donated AED 52,000 of entrance fees to the Sharjah Bridal Fair 2017, one of the most prestigious wedding fairs in the region, to the ‘Ameera Fund’. The fund was launched by the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), and Chairperson of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), in memory of the late Ameera BinKaram in recognition of her contribution to humanitarian work, supporting the treatment of cancer patients worldwide.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Hanan Al Mahmoud, JRCC Director, and other managers and employees organised an Iftar for 120 residents of the Old People’s Home in Sharjah to highlight the importance of solidarity and respect for the elderly. After the Iftar, Emirates Pride Perfumes presented 40 gifts to the residents as a token of appreciation and affection.
“The responsibility towards the community is one of our most important priorities at JRCC. We are committed to supporting humanitarian initiatives and projects that foster the values of generosity and contribute to alleviating the suffering of the sick, the disadvantaged and the elderly. We not only stand by their side and strive to improve their circumstances, we also try to provide them with the support they need to lead a happy and fulfilled life,” said Hanan Al Mahmoud.
Throughout the year, JRCC has donated F&B to the Emirates Red Crescent, which distributed it to families on a low income. It also sponsored the ‘Let's Draw a Smile and Spread Happiness’ initiative, which was launched by the Flag Island Management in celebration of the Zayed Humanitarian Day.
Hanan Al Mahmoud stressed that JRCC welcomes any collaboration with individuals, institutions and organisations to organise and launch joint initiatives which will enable them to achieve their humanitarian, health and social objectives. She pointed out that the centre seeks to promote social responsibility in all community members in line with the values of selflessness fostered in UAE citizens and residents by its leaders.
