Under the patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, the Sharjah Children Shura Council will hold the second meeting of its 15th edition tomorrow (Tuesday), themed ‘Working Together for a Better Nation’, at the Consultative Council of Sharjah.
The meeting will host 70 council members - 68 members of Sharjah Children Centres, and two members of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services - as well as guest speakers Hanadi Saleh al Yafei, Department Director at SCFA and Head of the Organising Committee of the Child Safety Campaign, and Emirati journalist Munther Al Muzakki Al Shamsi.
The young members of the council will address two topics: the importance of harnessing social media as a tool to build a better country; and its role in promoting positive ideas on cultural, educational and social issues.
The second topic discusses an array of effective social media experiences, which were instrumental in serving the community and highlighting positive values among its members.
Aysha Ali Al Kaabi, Acting Director of Sharjah Children Centres, said: “We are dedicated to all issues that help to develop a better nation through the Sharjah Children Shura Council platform.”
“Through this meeting, we will encourage our members to become effective influencers who convey a positive message to their peers to use the internet and social media responsibly, as well as inspire them to enrich and enhance their own lives through digital technology.”
Munther Al Muzakki Al Shamsi and Hanadi Al Yafei will bring their extensive experience of children and the media as prominent members of Emirati society and established professionals in their respective fields.
Hanadi Saleh Al Yafei has a BA in Mass Communications with honours from the Higher College of Technology in Dubai. She started her professional career at the Dubai Ladies Club, and moved to the Sharjah Ladies Club as Marketing and Sponsorship Manager for six years. In 2013, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi appointed Al Yafei as Department Director at SCFA. She is a member of the Child Protection Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior in Abu Dhabi and a Member of the Sharjah Child Protection Network. She is currently enrolled in a professional diploma in Child Protection at the University of Sharjah.
Munther Al Muzakki Al Shamsi is an Emirati Sports journalist who spreads awareness about various social issues through social media to encourage positive behaviour and enhance bonds between community members.
An initiative by Sharjah Children Centres, SCSC aims to build a generation that is aware and educated on parliamentary life in the UAE, in line with the emirate’s vision to encourage children to lead through education and participation in the legislative process. The council establishes principles based on respecting the opinions and freedoms of others, with Islamic values enshrined in its philosophy.
The theme for the 15th edition of SCSC, ‘Working Together for a Better Nation’ was conceived to describe the spirit of cooperation and solidarity that unites the people of the UAE and heralds the progress of the country in general and Sharjah in particular. It was created to combine a sense of belonging to the nation, with the qualities of loyalty and allegiance held in high regard. Encapsulating the essence of giving, the slogan was formulated to align with Sharjah’s commitment to development through empowering children and helping them to realise their full potential.
