More than 550 Experts Gather at the MENA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Congress in Dubai

MENA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Congress launches in Dubai with the support of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention and Dubai Health Authority. The leading congress is supported by the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM), European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM), Asian Oceanic Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOSPRM), and Southern African Neurological Rehabilitation Association (SANRA) and organized by Maarefah Management.

During the three days of the congress, the scientific lectures cover various important topics in this area, including the challenges facing the development of this field in the Middle East, the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in the long term, techniques Neuromodulation in cramping management or pain intractable to treatment, systematic review and analysis of healing the upper limb after stroke, physical medicine and rehabilitation after total replacement to the knee joints, the role of innovation and new technology in the future of this area in the region, the long-term management of spinal cord injury, the latest developments in the acute injury management in the spine and long term rehabilitation, and other key issues in this important area.

Dr. Abdul Karim Msaddi, Medical Director, Head of Neurosurgical & Spinal Dept. Microsurgery-Minimally Invasive Brain & Spine Surgery, Neuro-Spinal Hospital, UAE, said in his scientific presentation about Neuromodulation techniques in chronic pain and spasticity management “Nervous stimulation is a way to reduce pain by sending electrical impulses through the spinal cord to activate neural circuits inhibitory pain, and that the clinical and psychological assessment has shown that the effectiveness in pain relief reached 50% during 3-10 day test period, and that this method is characterized by easiness and safety and the ability to stimulate pain areas that are difficult to reach through other forms of stimulation.
