There are no delayed housing projects in the Kingdom, said Minister of Housing Shuwaish Al-Duwaihi. He was speaking during the inauguration of the Apartment Housing project in Buraidah in the presence of Qassim Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar. Al-Duwaihi said the project is the first of a series of projects that the ministry is implementing in the region, noting that the coming period will witness the completion of a number of important housing projects. The Apartment Housing project covers an area of 50,3782 square meters and includes 318 villas each built on 550 square meters of land. “The project includes four mosques with a capacity of 200 worshippers each and a road network covering an area of 130,000 square meters, as well as green spaces adding another 6,200 square meters,” said the minister. “Additionally, a system for the disposal of sewage has been built into the design of the project,” he pointed out, noting that the Buraidah project includes all the services and facilities required by its residents, taking into account any overcrowding in the future. Explaining the ‘land and loan’ option, Al-Duwaihi said that the mechanism involved the delivering of the land by a contractor assigned to the citizen for the construction of the house. He confirmed that a high proportion of the projects being implemented across the Kingdom have already been completed. Qassim Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar expressed his positivity at the completion of the project saying: “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s aim to further the human development in our country is undisputed. He is indeed a pioneer in serving the people and the country, and is consistently aspiring to provide a decent living standard for the Saudi people, which is also reflected in the support of the crown prince.” Elaborating on another project in Al-Qassim, the Al-Tarafiyah Center, which is expected to be one of the biggest development projects in the region, Al-Duwaihi said, “It is still in the planning phase because of its big area and high value that is targeted to serve a large population,” adding that the project is undergoing extensive study. He pointed out that once the planning phase is over, the project will be delivered to the contractor for implementation.
