Joint Commission International (JCI), the world’s largest healthcare accreditor is considered the gold standard in healthcare worldwide. Dubai based Canadian Specialist Hospital (CSH) was reaccredited by JCI for the third time in a row this year. CSH received its first accreditation by JCI in 2011 followed by a reaccreditation in 2014. JCI-accredited organizations are required to be reaccredited every three years as part of ongoing performance improvement.
UAE authorities have recently stated, that all hospitals will have to be accredited before 2021. The law focuses on protecting the rights of the patients and providing the premier healthcare services in the emirate. A step in this direction augurs well for the economy and further nurtures the healthcare ecosystem. Global accreditations will further boost Dubai’s leadership position as the health tourism hub in the region.

During the review, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated the patient satisfaction in addition to performance improvement and efficiency of the hospital. The accreditation motivates healthcare institutions to be among the best in the world which in turn proves beneficial for the patients.
Healthcare institutions qualify for the accreditation after successfully completing stringent assessments on the level of compliance to evidence-based medicine, quality assurance, medical ethics and patient safety, and the reduction of medical errors.
