World Customs Organization and Saudi Customs reward excellence performed by Intertek

Intertek, a leading provider of quality solutions worldwide, received dual recognition from the World Customs Organisation and Saudi Customs during the International Customs Day held recently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss "Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement."  

The company was awarded the “Certificate of Merit” and the “Customs Knight” awards. The first award recognized Intertek’s exceptional services to the international customs community. The second accolade rewarded Intertek’s Government and Trade services for its extensive efforts in the field of supporting, integrating and developing the digital customs vision. The vision aims at driving easier, faster and more transparent customs clearance. It comprises of a digitisation of conformity certifications and inspection reports. The single-window data integration, offered by Intertek, will improve the quality of services offered by the Saudi Customs.

Husny Saeed, General Manager, Governments & Trade Services Middle East at Intertek received the award from his Excellency Saleh M. S. Al-Khaliwi, Director General of Saudi Customs and his Excellency Sulaiman Al Twijri Deputy Director of Customs Affairs.

Through Intertek’s wide network around the world, Saudi Customs and the company have been cooperating on assuring all international shipments arriving to Riyadh are inspected on site in the country of origin. The company has been working to develop a digital conformity certification clearance system.  In addition to that, and as part of these joint efforts, Intertek held a conformity certificate workshop for the Saudi Customs. The workshop included activities around the digital verification and originality of certificates in order to develop specialised capabilities for the Saudi Customs personnel.
