Already thinking ahead towards the end of the year, the hotel is gearing up to launch the boldly reimagined Asia De Cuba, the fan-favourite restaurant that will debut a new look and sparkle. Details of the renovation has been strictly kept under wraps, but promises to redefine casual fine dining with innovative twists. Moreover, Asia de Cuba will be the only one if its a kind on the Corniche, a niche restaurant where diners can experience the best of gourmet food and an extensive variety of libations.
Moustafa Sakr, General Manager of the hotel shared his thoughts on the burgeoning dining trends taking over the capital. “Diners are constantly seeking new and distinct culinary concepts as is evident from the success of many quirky and hip cafes that have popped up all over Abu Dhabi. Just take Al Bateen area which draws in thousands of residents and tourists alike- largely due to the variety of concept cafes and restaurants present there. Similarly, we are working to re-launch Asia de Cuba to be unique in the truest sense and I am excited to prepare for the reopening of the restaurant at the end of the year”.
He also shared his enthusiasm of The St. Regis Abu Dhabi’s stellar performance in the year 2018. “I am delighted the hotel recorded a successful 80% occupancy in the year 2018. We hope to capitalize on this momentum and grow even further with improved products, while maintaining our signature hospitality par excellence which deliver on quality, innovation, and unparalleled luxury”.
Sakr credited the hotel’s success on the innumerable number of diverse events that are occurring in the capital, which ultimately led to an increased demand for hotels. “Abu Dhabi has transformed into a global hub bustling with action, especially with the high-profile exhibitions such as IDEX, sport events, cultural programs, leisure activities, and entertainment shows, making it one of the most sought after destinations in the world. In addition, the recent visit of the Pope helped expose Abu Dhabi, the Middle East and the Islamic World as an open community that is tolerant and most importantly, secure. This landmark visit has brought in a lot of interest from investors and tourists in the region”.
To keep the demand within the hospitality sector high, Sakr relies on the success of the capital as a whole, including tourist attractions such as Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island. He maintains that every five-star hotel, four star hotel, and luxury boutique hotel in Abu Dhabi play a role in the success of the destination, and refuses to see these as competitors, rather facilitators of success for the sector.
“In the upcoming summer season, I look forward to working with our parent company Marriott International, to promote The St. Regis Abu Dhabi globally. A delegation will be participating at travel exhibitions across the world, and will continue to push for corporate partnerships with luxury brands. It is a good opportunity for us to not only represent Marriott International, but also Abu Dhabi on a global platform and I am excited to see what possibilities we are presented with,” concluded Sakr.
