St. Moritz (17 October 2016) Winter season at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz kicks off on 16 December 2016. In addition to the VIP packages for the Polo World Cup and the White Turf horse race, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships between 6 and 19 February 2017 will be one of the major sporting highlights. Having recently been named Switzerland’s Leading Hotel 2016 at the World Travel Awards, the Carlton Hotel will be offering an outdoor butler service for the first time, and thus a winter programme that is full of surprises.
 

Urs Wiederkehr (51) has lived in St. Moritz for more than 30 years. As former ski instructor, he knows the Engadine like the back of his hand. During the coming winter season, he will be the latest addition to the Carlton’s existing butler service. Willing to cater to whatever your heart desires and ready for anything – as outdoor butler, Urs will anticipate hotel guests’ every wish and act as outstanding hosts. “Urs really does know everything and everyone here. Therefore our guests will always be in good company”, says Hotel Manager Dominic Bachofen. This extraordinary service is based on the local knowledge and social network of the “native”. He will offer insider tips on the culture, architecture and history of St. Moritz and the Engadine high valley. Bachofen explains that the emphasis will always be placed on providing a personal and individual service – and every effort will be made to meet even unusual or more outlandish requests. “These might include skating on the black ice followed by a picnic, a run down the St. Moritz ice track – something people might otherwise not dare to do – or a joint excursion to feed the local birds.”
By providing this service, the Carlton Hotel hopes to cater to guests who already know the area, but have not yet discovered some of St. Moritz’s hidden gems, as well as those who want to explore the Engadine together with locals.

Skiing fun with a VIP feel

Multiple World Cup Champion Marc Girardelli and Downhill World Champion Daniel Mahrer can be booked as exclusive ski guides. Regardless of whether you are a true expert or an average skier – the two professionals are sure to show how to perfect the form and offer a few good tips. There will also be plenty of time to hear stories from their professional careers – whether on the slopes or in the evening over a glass of wine. Image rights for selfies are included in the price. High speed on ice

You have not done it all until you have tackled the St. Moritz ice track. On 15 January 2017, guests can look forward to a real adrenaline rush! Together with the ice track pro Gregor Stähli, you will be able to complete your own runs as the pilot of a one-man bobsleigh. The Olympic bobsleigh run has been in operation since 1904 and is the oldest bobsleigh track still in use worldwide. The ice track between St. Moritz and Celerina is the last remaining natural ice bobsleigh run and, thanks to its 5000 cubic metres of packed snow, is also the world’s largest snow sculpture.
