WaterWipes - it all began with one dad

Edward McCloskey, the founder of WaterWipes, owned a skincare company which manufactured cotton products, including the popular baby care product, cotton wool. When he and his wife were expecting their first baby in 1993, they were happy to have a sufficient supply of cotton wool and water as recommended by midwives, to clean and care for their baby.

Unfortunately, using cotton wool and water to change nappies every day proved to be impractical and inconvenient. The new parents finally gave in and purchased commercial baby wipes. Things took a turn for the worse when their daughter, who suffered from sensitive skin, developed a painful case of nappy rash. Edward was keen to get to the source of the irritation and examined the ingredients in the baby wipes they were using. He was shocked to learn just how many ingredients were present. He questioned their compatibility with his baby’s delicate skin, and believing there had to be a better way, set out to create a purer and safer alternative.

Many years later and after a lot of hard work, testing, and scientific research, WaterWipes were born.
