Overview

VOX Cinemas is owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, which is the cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

 

VOX Cinemas has served over 100 million customers over the past 19 years and has expanded its screen count from 183 screens in 2015 in 16 locations to the current 405 screens in 41 locations across eight countries. 

 

VOX Cinemas was granted its license to operate in KSA in April 2018 and launched its first multiplex in Riyadh Park in the same month with four screens including an IMAX screen and KIDS. In Q1 2019, VOX Cinemas opened the first multiplex in Jeddah in Red Sea Mall and the second cinema in Riyadh in Al Qasr Mall.

 

On Sunday, 17 March 2019, VOX Cinemas opened its fourth cinema in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and third in Riyadh, in The Roof.

 

With a total of 553 seats at The Roof in Riyadh, VOX Cinemas continues to bring best-in-class movie entertainment ranging from Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters to Arabic films to audiences across the region. VOX Cinemas also screens these in a variety of languages including English, Arabic, Tagalog, Hindi and more to ensure that all audience members are catered to.  

 

Experiences

As the Middle East’s most innovative and customer-focused cinema operator, VOX Cinemas has developed a number of unique concepts that go beyond the traditional experience to provide an all-inclusive offering for movie goers. In addition to its standard Cinema 

 

1.     KIDS

·         The first dedicated children’s’ cinema in the Middle East.

·         Children and parents can watch the latest animation, action and adventure films in our family-friendly cinemas with colourful interiors.

·         The Roof has one KIDS screen with a total of 50 seats and is perfect for viewing a range of family-friendly films and animated content.

·         The concept includes one party room that can be booked for private functions.

 

2.    Standard

·         VOX provides its standard movie experience where guests can enjoy the latest movie releases with a very affordable price.

·         Standard includes regular and premium seats 

 

Food & Beverage Concepts:

 

 Nutella bar

·         VOX Cinemas The Roof includes a specialty Nutella bar where guests can enjoy a selection of sweet treats featuring the world’s most popular chocolate spread. Waffles, pancakes and crepes are prepared to order with a variety of fresh toppings.

 

Pizza Al Taglio 

Pizza Al Taglio a brand-new concept serving freshly baked pizza in square slices with gourmet toppings. 

Kitchen 35

·         Kitchen 35 is a grab and go café serving coffees, juices, sandwiches, salads and pastries. The name is inspired by the 35-millimeter film that was originally used to shoot motion pictures.

·         At all new multiplexes that we open, the pricing is set after considering a number of factors. 

·         Most importantly, we will always ensure affordability for all guests with a starting price of SAR50.  VOX Cinemas offers a number of different experiences – from luxury to family friendly – at varying price points to allow guests to choose the experience that suits them best.

• Pricing is in line with Riyadh Park and international standards for a flagship location. 

 

Gender segregation:

• Male only sessions
• Ladies only sessions (aligned with UAE’s Ladies’ only concept – 15+ age rated movies therefore no male children allowed) 

 

Performance so far:

·         VOX Cinemas in Riyadh Park saw record occupancy levels since its opening.

·         95% of VOX Cinemas in Riyadh Park tickets so far sold for Riyadh park are booked online, and we see this trend continuing with all new openings as guests want to ensure they are securing seats.

·         Magic planet in Saudi has entered Majid Al Futtaim’s top 5 performing locations in such a short time compared to our larger flagship stores in Dubai and Kuwait.

·         VOX Cinemas’ IMAX in Riyadh Park ended the year at #10 in only 8 months of operations amongst all 1,300 IMAX screens globally. 

·         In 2018, 82 films were released at Riyadh Park.  

 

Current screen count and committed pipeline: 

·         39 screens open

·         110 screens will be open by end of 2019 

 

Future Plans

·         VOX Cinemas plans to open 600 screens by 2023 

·         Three new VOX Cinemas opened in Q1 2019 – Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, Al Qasr in Riyadh and The Roof also in Riyadh. VOX Cinemas plans to open its unique luxury cinema concept in Kingdom Tower in Q2 2019. 

·         VOX Cinemas is committed to developing the first multiplexes in 10 cities across KSA, including the first multiplex in the Eastern Region and Tabuk later this year. 

·         VOX Cinemas’ contribution to the regional box office is approximately 45%. 

·         In 2019, VOX will increase its regional screen count by 50%, adding a forecast 180 screens, ensuring that the chain contributes more that 50% of the region’s box office.

·         In 2019, around 250 films will be released in KSA
