The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said Monday it had received a donation of 50 million dollars from the United Arab Emirates. "At a time when we are under intense pressure on the agency, the enormous generosity of the United Arab Emirates sends a clear message that the Palestine refugees are not alone," UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krinboll said in a statement on its website.
This financial support will go to help the agency maintain its 2019 programs as planned, especially in the areas of primary health care, education and social services, UNRWA said in a statement today. "The UAE has already donated $ 50 million last year, which has enabled UNRWA to open its 708 schools," he said.
