UAE Olympians share their dreams in a special Rio 2016 feature on Physique TV

To celebrate the 13 athletes representing the UAE in Rio 2016, Physique TV has produced a special Olympics feature airing on 4th August, 8pm UAE. Some of the UAE Olympians share their hopes and dreams in a special interview with Physique TV, including cyclist Yousif Mirza who will compete in men’s road race; Aisha Al Balushi in women’s weightlifting; Yacoob Al Saadi and Nada Al Bedwawi in swimming. 

 

For Mirza, competing at the Olympics is a dream come true. Upon learning that he qualified for Rio Olympics, he trained very hard in the hopes of showing the world that the UAE can excel in the sports of cycling. 

 

Representing the UAE in a number of regional and world weightlifting tournaments since 2009, Al Balushi hopes to bring home the gold medal in the 52kg weight class.

 

What started as a hobby is now a profession for swimmer Al Bedwawi. She holds the UAE’s women’s 100m backstroke record with a time she set at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia. Fellow swimmer Al Saadi is the current title holder of the men’s 50m and 100m backstroke record in the UAE, and hopes to break new records at the Olympics.
