Demonstrating its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates celebrated the Kingdom’s 86th National Day on Thursday.
Officials at the Dubai airport organized a welcome reception, greeting the arriving passengers and offering sweets and flowers.
An official from the airport said it is a gesture of friendship between the UAE and the Kingdom since time immemorial.
Most schools in Dubai also organized programs to highlight the achievements made by the Kingdom in the past 85 years, to mark the National Day, which falls on Friday.
On Wednesday, on a directive of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, UAE vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, a major street in Dubai, “Al Sufouh,” was renamed King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Street.
The renaming was in recognition of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman’s achievements in the region and the wider Muslim world.
The renamed street, which stretches from Dubai Marina to Madinat Jumeirah and Mina Al-Salaam hotel, passing the Palm Jumeirah, is used by Dubai Tram. It was decorated with flags and pictures of leaders of the two countries, reflecting their strong fraternal relations.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom’s capital wore a festive look with national flags all over the city. The Riyadh municipality has put up thousands of flags and digital signboards with pictures of the country’s leaders.
The city will witness a series of cultural events including laser shows and musical programs on Saturday.
