UAE demonstrates its leadership in spearheading climate action: Al Dahak

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, affirmed that the UAE, under the guidance of its wise leadership, has demonstrated its leadership in driving climate action. This was particularly evident when the UAE hosted the COP28 last year and produced the historic "UAE Consensus'', which drew global attention.

In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Dr. Al Dahak said that the UAE is participating in the UN climate conference with a high-level delegation comprising more than 90 federal and local entities, as well as representatives from the private sector and civil society. The aim, she said, is to highlight the UAE's efforts and values, which are deeply rooted in the principles of sustainability, environmental preservation, and global climate action.

Dr. Al Dahak emphasised that the UAE always believes that engagement and participation in these multilateral platforms, as well as fostering international cooperation, are key solutions to many of the challenges facing the world today, particularly climate change.

She added that the UAE is participating in COP29 with a national pavilion that features an interactive and rich programme, including 67 sessions, over 250 speakers, and more than 40 entities contributing content that showcases the UAE's inspiring climate story, its achievements in climate action, and its journey since its founding.

She said that the UAE is working during its participation in the climate conference with all countries and parties to accelerate international climate action, ensure the implementation of the historic "UAE Consensus'' and achieve the goals of climate action to maintain the 1.5°C target for the planet's preservation.

She further noted that the UAE's participation in the conference also aims to build on the achievements it has made and leverage its capabilities and expertise to contribute effectively to global climate action, especially in enhancing financing to lead a fair and just global energy transition.
