The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) and Philips Lighting Arabia Ltd. to train 1,111 Saudi youngsters from colleges and institutes.
Under the agreement, the two companies will employ the trainees after they complete their training program. The agreement was signed in the presence of TVTC Governor Ali Al-Ghafees by Deputy Governor for Training Rashid Al-Zahrani, and SAPTCO Chief Executive Officer Khalid Abdullah Al-Hugail. Philips Lighting Co., which is involved in the partnership, was represented by Rashid Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, general manager for human resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Al-Zahrani said that the TVTC has built a true partnership with the private sector for setting up joint training programs, which would create job opportunities for Saudi trainees.
Under the agreement, SAPTCO will train 611 Saudi youths after which they will be absorbed into the company’s various departments. Philips, the other service provider, will train 500 Saudi youths.
Al-Zahrani said the trainees would have many advantages during the training period, including a stipend, and access to medical and social insurance. The TVTC inked a similar agreement this week with the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) to train and employ 500 Saudis for contracting companies involved in a project entitled “Wa’d of the North.”
The agreement was signed for the TVTC by Al-Zahrani and Nabil bin Abdulaziz Al-Freeh, senior vice president for human resources and sustainability at Maaden. The joint training program has resulted in 2,280 jobs for Saudis following the signing of 38 agreements.
