Turkish Airlines’ Ordinary General Assembly Istanbul
As a result of the votes taken at the Turkish Airlines’ Ordinary General Assembly, Mr. İlker Aycı has been designated as Board Chairman of Turkish Airlines, and Dr. Temel Kotil will assume the role of Deputy Chairman in addition to his position as CEO.
The Ordinary General Assembly of Turkish Airlines was held at the headquarters of Turkish Airlines with shareholders participating. The meeting was called to order at 2.00 pm, April 6. Board of Directors’ Annual Report and Independent Audit report for 2014 were reviewed and approved, and Board of Directors were released on financial and operational activities relating to fiscal year 2014.
In a subsequent vote, Mr. İlker Aycı was named as the Board Chairman of Turkish Airlines and Dr. Temel Kotil has been given the position of Deputy Chairman, in addition to his CEO responsibilities. And the following persons have been given positions as members of the board; Prof Dr. Mecit Eş, Mehmet Büyükekşi, İsmail Gerçek, Ogün Şanlıer, Arzu Akalın, İsmail Cenk Dilberoğlu, Muzaffer Akpınar.
The Assembly was adjourned following speeches of greeting and good wishes to all.
İlker Aycı İlker Aycı was born in Istanbul in 1971. Following graduation from Bilkent University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration, he earned a Master's Degree at Marmara University’s Department of International Relations by completing the work and research that he had done at Leeds University's Political Science Department. He speaks both English and Russian. His former positions include; Board Chairman and CEO of Universal Foreign Trade, CEO of Asal Foreign Trade, work as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor's Advisor, acting as the Middle East and Middle Asia Regional Representative of the Kurtsan Pharmaceutical Industry, CEO of Başak Insurance Corporation and CEO of Güneş Insurance Corporation. Since January 2011, he has been the president of the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency. Furthermore, since January 2014, he has also functioned as the President of WAIPA, World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies that includes 175 national and regional investment agency members from 130 countries around the world.
İsmail Cenk Dilberoğlu: İsmail Cenk Dilberoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1975 and later graduated from Marmara University's Faculty of Law. Between the years of 1999-2003 he practiced law at his own office at Cağaloğlu/Istanbul. Since 2003 he has mainly served as a company advisor at "Kollektif Law Office" -a partnership structure- in the fields of commercial law, company law, business law, tax laws, execution and bankruptcy law. He was then selected to serve on the Ensar Foundation's Board of Trustees and until 2011 he was Vice President of that Board. In 2011 he became Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the same foundation. He is married with two children.
Ogün Şanlıer : Ogün Şanlıer was born in 1974 in İzmit, and graduated from Marmara University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration. He was taught in French and is fluent in that language as well as English and German. His former positions include; Anadolu Isuzu Automotive Ind. Trade Co. Ltd. from 1999-2001 where he was a specialist in Export, as the Export Regional Manager at Feniş Holding- Feniş Foreign Trade Inc. from 2002-2007. Additionally he functioned as Trade Manager and Vice General Director at Halk Ekmek Inc, of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Affiliates Department and Board Chairman at the Istanbul Academy of Media Inc. He is married with two children.
