THE WORLD’S BEST ESPORT PLAYERS BATTLE TO QUALIFY FOR SAUDI ARABIA’S FIRST LIVE INTERNATIONAL ESPORTS SEASON

: Gamers Without Borders (GWB), the world’s biggest charitable Esports festival is back for the third consecutive year, with yet another US$10 million charity prize pool. This year’s edition features a significant addition, as the Elite competitions will qualify some of the world’s most renowned professional Esports teams, to take part in an all-new major Esports tournament will taking place live in Riyadh in summer 2022.

 

The festival’s US$10 million charity prize-fund will be at stake once again in the Elite Series of GWB, as the world’s best gamers will go head-to-head in some of the world’s most popular Esports titles, including Fortnite, Dota 2, and Rocket League.

 

Over the past two years, US$20 million were dedicated to Covid-19 relief and vaccine distribution. The 2022 edition of GWB will see the humanitarian aid partners (Direct Relief, International Medical Corps, UNICEF, Gavi, and UNHCR) direct the funds to address a variety of urgent humanitarian needs in the world today.

 

The stakes will be higher than ever for teams and players taking part this year, as all GWB Elite competitions act as qualifiers to the inaugural Saudi Esports’s flagship Gaming & Esports event, which will boast a staggering $15 million prize pool in the summer of 2022.

 

Set to take place between April 28th and June 7th, Gamers Without Borders is an event by the Saudi Esports Federation, in technical partnership with ESL Gaming. The seven-week-long mega-series includes daily and weekly public tournaments and prize giveaways worth over US$2 million. The Esports festival offers an open invitation for gamers of all abilities to sign-up and have the chance to compete in an action-packed schedule of competitions across a wide range of the world’s most popular gaming titles.

 

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation, said: “After two successful festivals, the third edition of Gamers Without Borders will be bigger than ever. The greater good is once again at the heart of it, as we strive to inspire, entertain and gather gamers around the world behind common humanitarian causes”.

 

“With Gamers Without Borders, The Kingdom has established the world’s largest charity Esports platform. Teams, fans and partners have enjoyed the journey so far and the array of opportunities it provided, we can all work together to continue using this global platform for the greater good of the world,” he added. 

 

GWB this year will witness the launch of the Saudi Esports Academy, with a series of free-to-all training programs aimed at people wanting to develop a career in gaming. Additionally, in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), GWB will include gaming-related educational activities will include academies, hackathons, and webinars.
