dinh van, which forms part of the fashion arm of Marka PJSC (DFM: MARKA), has introduced its elegant and modern Pi Chinois collection to the contemporary French jewellery house’s store at City Walk, Dubai-UAE today.
Inspired by the Chinese art of Pi discs, the collection was launched in 1991 in a simple and minimalist design, characterizing the Maison. The piece of jewelry created was out of 24-carat pure gold - composed by 99.99% of yellow gold.
To meet the requirements of 24-carat pure yellow gold, which is naturally soft, the pendant is manually-hammered giving it more rigidity. This technical constraint of the design makes every piece unique and exclusive, while making it part of a distinctive range. Today every Pi Chinois is still hand-hammered. The Pi Chinois is available in 24-carat yellow gold, 18-carat pink gold or silver for a timeless, contemporary collection. It can be worn on a chain or a cord.
Exhibited at the Decorative Arts Museum in Paris since 2003, the Pi Chinois collection has been reworked twice over the last decade: Firstly in 2004, Milan Vukmirovic, co-founder of Colette, combined onyx and white agate to re-interpret the mythic disc in a White and Black Pi.
Consequently in 2010, dinh van invited the Italian creator, Lapo Elkann, to revisit the Pi Chinois. He chose carbon fiber, renowned for its extreme resistance and lightness, and black diamonds to redesign the concept in a unisex version.
Brought to the UAE by Marka Fashion, dinh van successfully launched its first boutique in in the first quarter of 2016 at CITY WALK Dubai, having already gained worldwide popularity for its luxurious designs.
