Eng. Ayed Ali Al-Zahrani, The Undersecretary for the Mayor of Jeddah for Community Service, launched the “Draw a Nation” initiative in the Tahlia Walkway in partnership with international artist Shalimar Sharbatly, which comes within the framework of initiatives to improve the visual scene in Jeddah.
Eng. Ayed Ali Al-Zahrani stressed on the importance of the initiative, whose goal is to paint a number of old and abandoned cars and vehicles, turning them into masterpieces, recycling them and converting them from pollutants to the environment, into works of art that contribute to enriching the visual scene. He pointed out the municipality’s keenness to strengthen community partnership, take advantage of the talents and capabilities of artists, support their creative work and make it possible to display it on public roads and facilities.
On her end, international Saudi artist Shalimar Sharbatly expressed her happiness at the launch of the initiative stating that choosing the Tahlia Walkway to place the first works for the "Draw a Nation" initiative is evidence of the interest, appreciation and support of the Secretary of the Jeddah Province, Mr. Saleh Ali Al-Turki, for the artistic initiatives carried out by citizens to improve the visual scene in the city and highlighting their artworks. She also thanked Eng. Ayed Ali Al-Zahrani, The Undersecretary for the Mayor of Jeddah for Community Service and the Municipality's team, for the unlimited support the provided which contributed to the success of the first works of the initiative aimed at improving the visual scene in Jeddah.
It is worth mentioning that the Jeddah Governorate Municipality has previously launched the # Yalla_Jeddah Platform, which attracts innovators from all fields to contribute in addressing the challenges in Jeddah. It welcomes everyone’s participation in presenting social initiatives, each according to his or her specialization or interest, as the Municipality works to support the implementation of the initiative to enhance community participation and tackle challenges and issues.
