The Crown Prince of Fujairah attends closing of the second edition of the Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Ramadan Martial Arts Championship and honours the winners

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Crown Prince of Fujairah stressed the significance of sports leagues in modernising the sports industry, encouraging young athletes, investing in their energies, and providing national teams with elite athletes to support the development of the sports industry in the nation.

 

The remarks were made during His Highness' presence at the second edition of Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Ramadan Martial Arts Championship, which was hosted in Zayed Sports City Stadium under His Highness' patronage, and was attended by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Authority for Culture and Media; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi; Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi; Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the UAE and Asian Fencing Federations; Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoun, Secretary General of the UAE Federation of Wrestling; and General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, who is currently serving as Member/Executive Office Member of the National Olympics Committee.

 

His Highness emphasized the support of H.H Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, for all sporting events the emirate hosts, as well as his guidance to provide all support to such events to succeed and accomplish their objectives. This increases the emirate's influence in the sports world, both regionally and internationally.

 

His Highness congratulated the winners of the Ramadan sports competition and praised the high standards in organizing this year's edition and the players' exemplary performance. He also underlined the need for strengthening the competitive spirit in enhancing the sports industry and attracting new talent of all ages.

 

The competition, which was held under the supervision of sports federations for taekwondo, wrestling, fencing, boxing, and judo, attracted 389 male and female players from various local and Arab sports clubs, and featured five competitions: taekwondo, judo, wrestling, boxing, and fencing.

 

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, Director of the Crown Prince's Office of Fujairah and President of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation; Anas Al Otaiba, President of the UAE Boxing Federation; and Nasser Al Tamimi, UAE Judo Secretary-General and General Treasurer of the International Judo Federation, along with a number of Fujairah managers and officials.
