As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of TheMeydan Hotel and in appreciation for senior citizens and their contributions to society, The Meydan Hotelrecently hosted a group of senior citizens from Thukher Social Clubto celebrate the ‘International Day of Older Persons’ that took place earlier this month.
On the day of the celebration, the guests were welcomed in person by Mr. Reuben Mifsud, Cluster General Manager, Meydan Hotels & Hospitalityand later enjoyed a special lunch at ‘Farriers’ restaurant with an extensive Emirati buffet carefully prepared by Meydan culinary team along with live tunes of the Oud player who performed exclusively for this occasion.
At the end of the celebration and to mark this special day, Meydan team has presented to every guest a small souvenir, highlighting the CSR partnership of Meydan Hotels & Hospitalitywith Mawahebthat was established earlier this year. ‘Mawaheb’ is an artist studio in Dubai, where adult student artists with disabilities (the determined ones) learn artistic skills and develop their self confidence in a relaxed safe environment. Four paintings, inspired by The Meydan Hoteland sister hotel Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spawere created by ‘Mawaheb’ artists and its artwork became the base of the new Meydan corporate gifts, which support ‘Mawaheb’ as an organization as well as highlight its positive contribution to UAE community.
Commenting on the celebration, Mr. Reuben Mifsud, Cluster General Manager, Meydan Hotels & Hospitalitysaid: “We are very happy to welcome ‘Thukher Social Club’ guests to The Meydan Hoteland to share with them these memorable moments celebrating the ‘International Day of Older Persons’. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed Al Maktoum in October 2014, Thukhr Social Club‘s aim is to promote the senior citizens integration into public life, to make use of their expertise and to ensure that they are spending their leisure time optimally through a range of activities, events and daily programmes that meet their needs covering a range of interests including cultural, social and recreational.
