Saudi Arabia was ranked second globally and first among Arab countries for using Snapchat, while the United Arab Emirates came in sixth, according to a survey conducted on the leading markets of chat programs.
Snapchat’s base in the Kingdom is growing fast, and the majority of users range between 16 and 20 years old.
The report, issued by GlobalWebIndex, said that the Kingdom came in 10th globally for using WhatsApp.
The ages of Saudi consumers who have installed this app on their smartphones ranged between 16 and 50.
South Africa is the largest market in the use of WhatsApp and most consumers are between 16 and 64 years old, while the Malaysian market took second place.
According to the report, the Irish are ranked first in using Snapchat. The app, used for sharing photos and videos, is especially popular among 12-19-year-olds.
As to the Wechat app, the report indicated that China has the most users and it is more popular among the age group of 16-60, followed by Malaysia, while the Kingdom was ranked 10th.
The report took into account the nature of the population, infrastructure of each country, in addition to the availability of Internet connection in these countries.
