Bringing sci-fi to reality, the launch of the Smart Home Experience Zone at Shopper Smart Living invites visitors to experience the simplicity, comfort and convenience of a connected home firsthand – being able to control the latest smart home appliances with just an internet connection and a mobile device. Designed to look like a high-tech dream home, the Smart Home Experience Zone is a dedicated area that demonstrates the user-friendliness of smart home systems, offering visitors an opportunity to go hands-on with the latest innovations in smart home technology.
A novel feature of the highly popular Shopper Smart Living, co-located with GITEX Shopper Spring 2016 and running from 30 March - 2 April 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the Smart Home Experience Zone is a must-see attraction for tech enthusiasts and savvy shoppers who are eager to learn about the practical applications of smart home technology and witness it in action, including connected security devices, home automation kits, next-generation security cameras, intelligent household sensors, alarms and much more.
With the proliferation of mobile devices and internet connectivity in everyday life, the smart home concept has picked up momentum as smartphones increasingly become the central hub of connected home technology. More than 91% of the UAE population are reported as using one last year[1] and by 2022, a typical family home is predicted to contain more than 500 smart devices[2].
“While a number of elements are still new to many homeowners, the interest and adoption of smart home technology is becoming increasingly common in the UAE,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). “Smartphones are the ultimate universal remote controls and most visitors come to the show with a touch screen in hand – we want to demonstrate the exceptional connectivity and tech-intelligence that it can unlock in their homes.”
The Smart Home Experience Zone will showcase how smart living transforms everyday lives – delivering safety, automation, smart controls, savings, comfort and efficiency. Whether keen to discover the latest in safety, home monitoring or home control, visitors will walk away with an understanding of how to manage their smart home systems – including lights, temperature, access, and audio and video – with a click of a button, from anywhere and at any time, armed with just a smartphone or a tablet.
Shopper Smart Living includes a number of leading brands displaying their latest line-up of smart home appliances, including Bosch, Braun & Valera, Kenwood, LG, Midea, Moulinex, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Siemens and Tefal. Major retailers participating include E-Home, E-Max Electronics, Jacky’s Electronics and more.
LohMirmand adds: “The benefits of incorporating smart technology and home automation into your home extend beyond the ‘wow’ factor – this is about using technology that works to deliver convenience, comfort, efficiency and sustainability, while accommodating your lifestyle and needs.”
