The Sharjah Government pavilion at GITEX Technology Week 2018 recorded great success on the fifth and last day of the region’s largest technology exhibition.
Visitors flocked to watch Sharjah government entities release their latest and cutting-edge digital solutions, as government representatives explained the role of innovative technologies in streamlining transactions with government entities to save time, money and effort.
Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director General of the Department of e-Government – Sharjah (DeG), said: “We are thrilled to see such remarkable turnout to our pavilion. We are also proud of the significant number of newly unveiled smart applications by our entities, which attracted more visitors. Our government entities proved their ability to keep pace with the advancement of our emirate in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Federal Supreme Council, and Ruler of Sharjah”.
The last day saw the launch of the Sharjah Childhood Protection Network (SCPN) smart application. Aiming to attract more subscribers and to showcase SCPN’s latest events and activities, the application works to raise awareness and provide information about child protection issues.
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) unveiled the new design of its website as well as the new SIH smart application. SIH also released its state-of-the-art virtual reality project, which aims to familiarise visitors with the UAE heritage.
The Sharjah pavilion featured 36 of Sharjah’s government departments and entities, which participated in the 5-day event, held from 14 to 18 October 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
