Shaikh Mohammed visits Gulfood 2016 in Dubai

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Sunday paid a visit to Gulfood 2016.

The five-day event, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is the world's premier annual food and hospitality trade event. 
During the tour, Shaikh Mohammed, accompanied by His Highness  Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director- General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre, toured the exhibition which is deemed as the most important event at the regional level in terms of number of exhibits, products and national and international participation.

More than 5,000 exhibitors in the food and hospitality sector from 120 Arab and foreign countries are taking part in Gulfood this year. Shaikh Mohammed expressed his happiness at the wide participation by the most important food producing countries, stressing that the UAE will always be the gateway between the West and the East as well as the communication bridge between our people and the peoples of the region on one hand and the peoples of the world on the other.


Shaikh Mohammed said the economic, industrial, cultural and sports event held in the country represent a vital source for the national economy and welfare of our people and our society. He also added that these gatherings are platforms which pave the way for cultural exchanges and social coexistence in our country, which hosts people of all nationalities.
Shaikh Mohammed was briefed by Almarri on the current edition of the region's largest event in the food industry. Almarri also pointed out that many countries are participating in in this year's edition of the exhibition for the first time, including Russia, Costa Rica, Belarus, Mauritius and other countries, Also, many countries enhanced the level of their participation, such as Japan, New Zealand and France, a fact that reflects the importance of the event.
