Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed has been appointed chairman of the board of trustees of the Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF). “I am honored indeed to join as chairman of the elected SGBF Trustee Board and look forward to working with stakeholders in the global environmental movement,” he said in a statement. The prince added that he expected to collaborate with the business as well as the government sectors for a common cause. The initiative for green building has an excellent five-year track record and will continue to lead the way on environmental building design, he said. The prince added that Saudi Arabia can lead the world in demonstrating how clean energy and the environment can go hand in hand with economic growth and that he was proud to be involved.
Faisal Alfadl, SGBF secretary general, added, SGBF’s 3,000 members, including 500 active green professionals and 30 leading organizations, are delighted that Prince Khaled Alwaleed had agreed to be chairman of the board of trustees. “His background in business, international affairs and passion for commitment to serve the community and protect the environment serve him in good stead as chairman of SGBF’s board of trustees,” Alfadl said. The SGBF also assists in the collection of guiding systems and standards powered by conferences, education, projects and resources.
