Schools, universities welcome Saudi students with gifts, events

As millions of students attended their classes in schools and universities across the Kingdom on the first day of the new academic year on Sunday, several institutions organized a variety of events and programs to attract the new comers.

Riyadh’s Princess Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University organized a unique program called the “Beacon of Nora” to help newly enrolled students adapt to the university environment.

“The week-long program consists of three phases — reception of students, introduction program, and enlightening students on academic activities,” said Dr. Faizah Bint Muhammad Al-Faiz, deputy president for academic support and student services at the university.

Several emirs, governors and directors of departments of education throughout the Kingdom made inspection tours to schools and universities in their respective regions.

Acting Emir of Riyadh Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Rahman made an inspection tour of some schools in the capital city.

More than one million students resumed their classes in Riyadh.

Welcoming them, Hamad Al-Wohaibi, director general of education in the region, wished them an academic year replete with great achievements.

In Sakaka, Al-Jouf Emir Prince Badr Bin Sultan visited Ibn Al-Qayyim Intermediate School and addressed the gathering of students and teachers. He presented textbooks to students.

Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on Sunday received Taif University President Hossam Zaman at his office in Jeddah.

The emir was briefed on diverse programs and projects being implemented by the university.
