The city of Sabya hosted the fifth Sabya Shopping and Entertainment Festival, organized by Jazan province’s tourism development committee.
Under the theme “Sabya the City of Art,” the festival included traditional dishes, henna designs, sewing and embroidery, drawing, flower arranging, pottery coloring, women’s accessories, incense, perfume, wooden artifacts and popular games.
The festival, which brought together 71 Saudi women and girls who displayed their creations and talents, aims to encourage productivity within families.
It gives them the opportunity to display, market and sell their products, and to have a sustainable income. It also promotes national heritage and handicrafts, national identity and an entrepreneurial culture.
“Selling my goods will help raise money to support my family financially,” said participant Umm Faisal, who produces traditional perfume.
Umm Khaled, who has participated in all five Sabya festivals, said it is “a great opportunity to display and sell our products, and find more clients.”
