Saudi Arabia announces new information minister

Saudi Arabia on Saturday announced the removal of Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi. In a series of Royal Decrees announced on State TV, Al-Toraifi was replaced by former ambassador to Germany, Dr. Awwad bin Al-Awwad.


Among other appointments, Prince Khalid bin Salman has been named as Saudi Arabia’s new ambassador to the US replacing Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki.


In another major decision, Minister of Information and Culture Adel Al-Toraifi was replaced by Dr. Awwad Al-Awwad.


Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman was named state minister for energy affairs. Minister of Telecommunications and IT Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel has been replaced by Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha.


Civil Service Minster Khaled Al-Arj has been removed from his position.
A number of new governors were appointed. Hail Gov. Prince Saud bin Abdulmohsin was replaced by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad.


Northern Border Region Gov. Mishal bin Abdullah was removed and in his placed Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan was appointed.
Ibrahim Al-Omar has been named as the governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).


Khalil Al-Thaqafi named as chief of Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME).
Two months salary bonus announced for forces fighting on the front line in Yemen.
Some of the benefits to government employees that were curtailed a few months ago have now been restored, according to the Royal Decree.


This year, all examinations have to be held before the month of Ramadan.
