Samsung Solve for Tomorrow comes to the UAE: Preparing Today’s Young Minds for Future Challenges

Samsung Gulf Electronics has announced the UAE’s first Solve for Tomorrow program in partnership with GEMS World Academy, which challenges 6th – 12th grade school students and teachers to encourage the use of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in finding creative solutions to resolve community challenges. The program will empower hundreds of students to create innovative solutions that transform the society.

Samsung’s key objective is to take an active and meaningful role in boosting interest and proficiency in STEM to fuel innovative thinkers and makers that are actively engaged in the direction of the modern world.

Jerric Wong, Head of Corporate Marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronic, said: “At Samsung, we believe that engaging youth in science, technology, engineering and math is critical to ensuring that tomorrow’s leaders are interested in and prepared for some of the careers that lie ahead. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is launching in the UAE as a project-based learning initiative that fosters critical thinking and creative problem solving among GEMS Education students. We look forward to seeing how students will continue to meet the emerging challenges of a new decade.”

Solve for Tomorrow fosters skills development that goes far beyond the classroom, including critical thinking, problem solving, community engagement and team collaboration. The program aims to improve student outcomes and advocate for teachers while uniting communities.

Stuart Walker, Head of School/CEO at GEMS World Academy, said: “As the world’s leading K-12 school operator our constant endeavor is to provide our students with a 21st century learning environment and equip them with the skills they need for tomorrow.  Through our IB programme we encourage our students to think critically and challenge assumptions and our partnership with Samsung Gulf Electronics will put this thinking into action.”

Answering the Solve for Tomorrow challenge, students at GEMS World Academy will tackle their generation's most critical issues. Solve for Tomorrow is designed to inspire students to rethink STEM and realize their ability to apply those skills to address through defining an issue facing their community and innovating a prototype of their idea to solve it – becoming passionate advocates of putting ideas into action for positive social change.
