Rove Downtown Dubai swings back in time with interactive installation ‘Takki W Hakki’

Rove Downtown Dubai pays tribute to one of the core elements of its new generation lifestyle hotel: Design.  In preparation for Dubai Design Week, taking place from 24 - 29 October, the flagship Rove Hotels property has partnered with a multi-functional design space in the UAE 1971 Design Space, to present ‘Takki W Hakki,’ an interactive installation that brings people together with a unique musical experience created by Think Tank Co, a Saudi based design and innovation company.

‘Takki W Hakki’ is a circular swing set with five seats tailored to resemble an old-fashioned saddle. Each seat comes with a headset to take people on a nostalgic journey through a sensory experience. The swing was crafted by a team of driven designers at Think Tank Co, a Saudi-based company founded by Maha Al Sudairi. The Saudi talent Majid Al Essa, was commissioned to create a remix of well-known traditional Samry songs to play on the headsets, 1971 Design Space, who works closely with artists in the region, brings ‘Takki W Hakki’ to the Emirate. 1971 Design Space also hosts a series of programmes dedicated to contemporary design and new technologies.

Art and design are at the core of Rove Downtown Dubai, with interiors specially curated to showcase the work of local and locally-based artists to reveal an ‘uncommon’ Dubai with its lesser known hidden gems. Drawing inspiration from the city’s culture and heritage as well as its achievements, the award-winning hotel design features fun, quirky artworks that invite comments, selfies and conversation.

The ‘Takki W Hakki’ installation will be featured at Rove Downtown Dubai during this year’s Dubai Design Week.
