ROSHN inaugurates ROSHN Green Initiative Center

ROSHN Group, Saudi Arabia’s leading multi-asset class real estate developer and a PIF giga project, today launched its ROSHN Green Initiative Center (RGIC), a flagship program that aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative, by cultivating trees and plants to enhance ROSHN’s communities and the areas surrounding them. The RGIC will be home to a tree nursery as well as an education center that will be open to the public.

On the sidelines of the RGIC unveiling, ROSHN also signed four sustainability-focused agreements with Saudi organizations that will contribute to RGI objectives and to wider national efforts toward a greener future. This includes MOUs signed with the National Center for Vegetation Cover and the Environment Fund, along with agreements signed with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company and the Vegetation Cover Development Foundation (Morooj). These collaborations will support ROSHN’s efforts to promote green concepts such as a circular economy, reducing carbon emissions and supporting ecological regeneration.

Launched during the 93rd Saudi National Day and forming part of ROSHN’s YUHYEEK CSR program, RGI is an integral part of the company’s contributions to the country’s sustainability efforts. Ahead of the upcoming 94th Saudi National day, RGI has delivered on achieving the initial dream with 93 green initiatives, which have contributed to vegetation cover across the Kingdom with more than 32K seedlings distributed, more than 25K mangrove trees planted, an additional 4.3K trees planted, more than 3K volunteers engaged and 75 schools involved throughout the Kingdom.

Featuring state-of-the-art technologies to germinate and grow local flora, the RGIC will be able to produce 2,000 trees a year. Through educational and interactive public engagements the facility will also become a learning hub and will be open to both the public and organizations looking to know more about how they can contribute to Saudi Arabia’s sustainability programs.

Trees growing at the RGIC will be planted in ROSHN’s communities to increase green space for residents and visitors and in select areas throughout the country, where they will contribute to environmental preservation and regeneration as set out by the Saudi Green Initiative.

With a mandate to develop human-centric communities, ROSHN incorporates sustainability throughout its operations and its developments, including energy and water usage, materials and waste management, transport and connectivity, and community wellbeing. ROSHN’s communities are built with nature in mind; ROSHN’s living street concept makes use of natural landscapes and greenery to encourage exercise and social interactions. ROSHN was one of the first organizations in Saudi Arabia to become a member of the UN Global Compact, and the Group has been recognized for its commitment to advancing sustainability and promoting ecological regeneration throughout its developments.
