Projects in Jeddah worth billions ‘progressing well’

Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has said here that he was pleased with the progress made on development projects in Jeddah worth billions.

There were 857 projects worth SR74 billion earmarked for the region over the past number of years, with some having already been completed. 
Prince Khaled made the comments after receiving a briefing on Wednesday from Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed, members of local councils and other government officials.
Prince Mishaal thanked Prince Khaled for supporting and guiding officials undertaking the developments in the region, and said it would provide better facilities and services for citizens, expatriates and visitors.
Prince Mishaal said the governorate did not postpone any development projects and new ones would be launched soon.
Prince Khaled will next month launch Jeddah’s electronic services portal to facilitate communication with citizens on service delivery.
According to reports, Jeddah’s transport department completed 38 projects over the past five years including underpasses and flyovers, while 23 projects are still underway.
The Saudi Electricity Company has completed 74 projects including building power stations in various parts of the city over the past five years, while the National Water Company has completed 185 projects, including 112 for sewage and 27 to combat dengue fever.
The Ministry of Health established 32 health centers over the past five years, while the education department completed 254 projects.
