Project Earth initiative at Dubai International Boat Show turns spotlight on environmental awareness

Superyacht makers, conservationists, boat builders, ocean preservationists join hands

with visitors to deliver sustainability message

Superyacht makers, conservationists, boat builders and ocean preservationists are joining visitors at the 25th Dubai International Boat Show today to raise awareness of the growing menace of marine pollution.

As many of the world’s leading leisure marine brands continue to attract show goers and professionals interested in all sectors of the maritime industry, sustainability is the theme at the Project Earth Pavilion, a new feature this year at Dubai International Marine Club.

On a daily basis, visitors to the Pavilion use an arcade “claw” to lift rubbish from the beach and win prizes, while others gather up plastic bottles to throw into a giant turtle-shaped bin before coming together at a Pledge Wall to sign a pledge to “GoGreen”.

“With plastic litter causing so many ill-effects to our oceans we are hopeful that we can use this event to create awareness in the region and proud that so many prestigious organizations have offered their support,” said John Paul, General Manager of Exalto Emirates, the marine specialists behind the initiative.

Showcasing a wide range of sustainable, eco-friendly marine products available in the market, the Project Earth Pavilion also features a “Kids Zone” with interactive games and prizes to excite and educate young adults about the importance of caring for our planet and oceans.

Running for all five days of the show which concludes on Saturday evening, the sustainability programme has drawn support from a host of exhibitors, including UAE-based Gulf Craft, Al Manzel Boats and AL Marakeb Boats, global ocean conservation group Project Aware, Emirates Marine Environmental Group and UAQ Marine Club.

As the 25th Dubai International Boat Show continues, free visitor parking is available at Skydive Dubai and Nakheel’s multi-storey car park on Palm Jumeirah with shuttle buses available at both locations. Water taxis will also be available at Skydive Dubai, and visitors are encouraged to use the Dubai Tram, connecting to the venue via the Marina Towers Tram station.

The 25th Dubai International Boat Show at Dubai International Marine Club - Mina Seyahi is open to trade visitors and the general public from 3pm – 9.30pm daily from Feb 28 to March 4, 2017. Tickets will be available at the gates for AED 60 each or visitors can pre-register online to save 15%.
