Princess Hussa bint Salman patronizes DCA’s Makkah Charity project

 In the area of service to children with special needs in the Kingdom, the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA) provides leadership and excellence in programs and services at all its branches in the Kingdom. It has become a comprehensive awareness platform due to its active role in educating society about the reasons for disability, ways to prevent it and stop its spread.

As part of its programs, the DCA organized the “Makkah Charity — Charitable Investments” event in Jeddah under the patronage of Princess Hussa bint Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud at Laylati Hall. The event was supported by UAE’s Rashid Center for the Disabled. A number of businesswomen who have interests in charitable works and women who are members of the DCA were in attendance.
This event was aimed at attracting support for the Makkah project adopted by the association three months ago.
Speaking at the occasion and addressing the gathering, Princess Hussa bint Salman said: “You all share the same view with me that this pleasant ceremony has several themes and, outstandingly, it underscores the exemplary Islamic, praiseworthy ethic (Sunnah) of ceaseless charity, as well as emphasizing the magnitude of charity in this blessed country. The event also reflects the advanced methodological performance of charitable organizations in Saudi Arabia.
“In this project, sponsored by the DCA, we are presented with an ideal model for harmonizing the efforts between the governmental, commercial and not-for-profit sectors, and between the awareness and responsiveness of citizens. This initiative takes its form from the outset from the inclination and predisposition of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to patronize the foundation-stone-laying ceremony of the project and his initiative (may Allah preserve him) to donate SR50 million to support the completion of the project. This action crowns the receptiveness of the country’s institutions and their support for the project’s idea, continued with competition between a number of companies and individuals to contribute generously to the construction costs and by so doing to help the DCA make great strides in this regard. We look forward to the timely completion of the project through the support of generous people.
“The contemporary, distinctive overall development of the Kingdom under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman (may Allah protect him) despite all the regional and international challenges, unquestionably reaffirms that we are in a country led by men of exceptional ability, who possess a mixture of humanity, wisdom, power and integrity. Nothing hinders them from serving their people and maintaining continuity in the advancement of security, safety and sustainable stability.
“Once more, I see this project as a response to the declaration of the Holy Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) that ‘When a person dies, all his good deeds cease except for three.’ One is ceaseless charity and perhaps ceaseless charity is the most rewarding of all things which may be undertaken by a person as an act of righteousness for her parents or for herself or for her children.
“In conclusion, I would firstly like to thank our country, and on this night, thank the UAE for the great offering by the Rashid Center for the Disabled and its fruitful cooperation with the Disabled Children’s Association in Saudi Arabia and the Makkah Charity Association. Most especially, I would like to thank Dr. Najla Fakhrudin Reda, as one of the pillars of charity here and one of the foremost women who has managed one of the associations for disabled children, namely Makkah Charity Association, as a pioneer. I would also like to mention Ustadha Soulaf Hejazi, head of the association, and Ustadha Ohood Badr, who volunteers for the association day and night in order to make our children happy, solely for the sake of Allah and His satisfaction. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the generous families and members of the Makkah Charity Association, and to everyone for their noble participation and support.”
The project has six towers and facilities, including two towers with 19 floors each. These two towers have been named after the late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz and King Salman. One of the towers will be for Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC) and the other for Panda Company. The fifth tower is named for Prince Sultan bin Salman Competition for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an for Disabled Children.
Additional three towers will be built soon. It is expected that the total cost of the five towers will be SR350 million. In addition, Mobily has taken the initiative of constructing five residential buildings as units of the project to be known as Mobily Charitable Investment Company project at a cost of SR40 million.
The architectural design of all the units of the project is complete and the proceeds from these buildings will support the free services by 10 centers of the Disabled Children’s Association in a number of regions of the Kingdom as part of the efforts of the association to ensure the permanent availability of financial resources.
