New AWS customers to benefit from broadest cloud security solutions on the market
Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity leader, and Amazon Web Services are expanding their existing relationship to support the acceleration of innovation and digital transformation in the UAE. The relationship enables companies to use one of the broadest sets of integrated cloud security solutions on the market to ensure that security and compliance are properly implemented as they enjoy fast, flexible access to the cloud.
The broadening of the relationship comes as more organisations across the region turn to cloud services to support their businesses’ growth and transformation. However, companies need to ensure that adopting cloud services includes protecting themselves from cyberthreats. According to the Cloud Threat Report 2022 published by Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 team, 65% of known cloud security incidents result from misconfigurations, a fact compounded by the fact that 99% of cloud users, roles, services and resources were granted excessive permissions. Working together, Palo Alto Networks and AWS can help ensure that organisations in the UAE and Bahrain Middle East regions looking to begin or further their cloud journey can do so safely and securely.
“There is a great deal of pressure on organisations to keep pace with broader digitalisation as they compete with one another. From a business perspective, there is no such thing as ‘too fast’, but the speed of change is creating potential security issues,” said Ercan Aydin, Vice President, Emerging Markets, Palo Alto Networks. “Through our cooperation with AWS, we are ensuring that organisations can have confidence in their ability to take advantage of cloud services. Thanks to a comprehensive range of solutions that help security teams manage complexity, control cloud privileges and address the risks their organisations face, organisations are able to keep pace with the business without major security headaches.”
The new AWS UAE Region consists of three Availability Zones and becomes AWS’s second region in the Middle East, with the existing AWS Region in Bahrain, which launched in 2019. The new AWS region gives organisations even greater choice for running their applications and serving end users from data centres located in the UAE, using advanced AWS technologies to drive innovation.
The expansion comes at a time when data privacy and security are of the utmost importance in the wake of tightening regulation, particularly following the instatement of the UAE Data Protection Law. The new infrastructure region means that organisations can be assured that their data is being stored and secured locally and to the highest standards where this is necessary.
Together with AWS, Palo Alto Networks will deliver a number of options to enhance cloud security in the UAE and Bahrain Middle East regions, allowing organisations to expand their footprint on AWS and ensure continuous compliance regardless of how dynamic, distributed, or abstracted their AWS environment becomes. This will be achieved through the combination of Palo Alto Networks ML-Powered Next-Generation Firewall, Prisma Cloud, Prisma SD-WAN and Cortex XSOAR. For those supporting customers in the region, Palo Alto Networks addresses data sovereignty and privacy needs both on a local and global scale to help ensure that a diverse customer base can benefit from cloud security solutions to secure their local cloud infrastructure while also meeting data location preferences.
