ONE&ONLY LE SAINT GÉRAN DESIGNS UNVEILED

The legendary One&Only Le Saint Géran will set new standards of ultra-luxury on the island of Mauritius when it is reborn and welcomes guests back at the end of the year following a multimillion dollar investment. One&Only has unveiled an advance preview of some of the resort’s exciting designs including exquisite new two- and three-bedroom suites and multiple interconnecting rooms for friends or multigenerational families travelling together.

Long hailed as the legendary iconic luxury retreat in Mauritius, One&Only Le Saint Géran will retain what guests have always loved - a sense of exclusive seclusion on its own private peninsula with a beachfront and calm lagoon unlike any other resort on the island. The resort’s colonial-style architecture will be lovingly preserved and will incorporate stylish design references to traditional Mauritian lifestyle and architecture such as local plantation manor houses, sugar cane kilns and soft palm-thatched roofs.

Elegantly appointed new guest rooms will feature gracious living spaces in a contemporary timeless design while retaining a relaxed island feel. A strong focus has been placed on showcasing the magnificent views and surroundings of the resort, with muted hues of warm white marble, teak and greys being used for the complete makeover including new furnishings, fabrics and colour schemes to reflect the lush tropical landscapes, the vibrant turquoise Indian Ocean, and the bleached white of Mauritian sand. dsgn™ from South Africa has been working closely with the resort team to ensure that the interior design and architecture of all rooms truly capture the essence of Mauritius while keeping One&Only ideals in mind. The sophisticated interiors of each guest room and suite will be finished with natural materials such as timber, stone, leather and linen. Bespoke furniture and locally-crafted lithographs have been selected to resonate with the tropical Mauritian environment and provide an idyll of understated style.

The lush and tropical garden that the resort lies on has never ceased to surprise guests of the resort and this is something that will not change. Upon entering the gates of the resort, over 4,000 palm trees will greet guests and will be amongst the plethora of flora and fauna across the property. Guests can look forward to seeing the cool palms swaying in the gentle breeze, savouring the delicious tropical scents that float across the gardens with small meandering waters and discovering hidden nooks in the shade of palms for moments of rest. The garden always has been, and will continue to be, a place for meditation, disturbed only by the sounds of the splashing of ducks gliding across the water or by the greeting call of a grey heron.

“Our comprehensive redesign will build on what our guests already treasure such as the unrivalled welcome and care of our loyal staff, our extraordinary location and services, but we are also adding even more,” says Charles de Foucault, General Manager. “Following guest feedback we decided to add more suites, all with private butler service, and more interconnecting rooms, all beautifully-designed to ensure that both new and loyal guests will find the resort to be a true luxury tropical oasis.”

All One&Only Le Saint Géran new guest rooms will feature a private balcony or terrace, marble-lined bathrooms with rain showers, and an indulgent separate bath opening up to a cleverly designed dressing space. More than 50 rooms across the resort will be available as an interconnecting option, making it an ideal retreat for families. One-bedroom suites with breath-taking views over the Indian Ocean, the white sand beach or the spectacular lagoon will range in size from 110 to 150 square metres each with a master bedroom, spacious lounge and dining room. Suites located on the ground floor will extend to a generous sun-filled private wooden deck with large sofa, daybed, terrace, chairs and table. All suites will feature personal butler service.

The introduction of luxurious one, two and three-bedroom suites has been a recent request from loyal guests, especially those who travel with large families. The 190 square metre two-bedroom ocean and beach-front suites will include two sophisticated bedrooms, three marble-lined bathrooms and two private terraces. Guests can also luxuriate in one of the four luxury three-bedroom suites which will sprawl over 250 square metres, each with a master bedroom, a living room and a prime location directly onto the soft white beach.

One&Only is renowned for its collection of private villas offering the ultimate in space and privacy within each property. Villa One at One&Only Le Saint Géran is a private two-bedroom secluded island home for up to four adults and two children with sensational views over the Indian Ocean. Guests enter a majestic entrance and walk through to a large open plan internal dining and lounge area. Or they can step outside to sink into a large sofa or armchairs on the terrace, or wander through the tropical gardens to reach private beach cabanas. There is a shaded private outdoor covered dining area overlooking the pool and ocean where delicacies are served up by a private chef working from Villa One’s private fully fitted kitchen or dedicated outdoor kitchen and grill. Villa One’s team of dedicated staff on hand also includes a 24-hour butler and valet.

Finally, One&Only Le Saint Géran will be unveiling private residences for guests who want to make the resort home. Secluded villas with their own pool will be introduced with a full suite of amenities and resort services for Residents to enjoy the Mauritian life, One&Only style.
