NWC showcases its achievements at its pavilion at COP16 in Riyadh

The National Water Company (NWC) revealed that it has achieved significant achievements in its projects and operation sectors. The results showed that many crucial projects in different regions of the Kingdom have entered into service, while the operational side witnessed continuous improvement and increase in performance indicators for water pumping, in addition to water treatment operations. This statement is made during NWC participation in the 16th Session of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification “COP 16”. The company stressed that it succeeded during this year to complete 94 vital projects in different regions of the Kingdom, at a cost of more than 3.7 billion Saudi Riyals. NWC showed that they are 66 projects for water services at 2 billion Saudi Riyals and 28 projects for sanitary drainage at 1.7 billion Saudi Riyals.

NWC said: "The 94 projects completed during the current year contributed to adding capacities of wastewater treatment plants by about 50,000 m3 per day. 40 reservoirs with a total storage capacity of more than 132,000 m3 and water pumping stations with a total capacity of more than 680,000 m3 per day, the additional capacities of wastewater treatment plants reached about 77,000 m3 per day and wastewater lifting stations with a total capacity of more than 440,000 m3 per day were constructed. 

The company stated that the projects completed in 2024 contributed to increasing the length of lines and networks. NWC indicated that lines and networks with a total length of 2,434 km were implemented, while the length of water lines and networks reached more than 1,837 km and about 597 km of sewage lines and networks were extended. 

On the operational side, the company stated that it had succeeded in increasing the hours of water pumping in the districts served by the network to an average of 20.50 hours in various areas out of a total of 24 hours per day.

The company noted that it carries out its work according to a strategy and programs that support the improvement of the level of services provided to customers, through performance indicators that are measured on a monthly basis, in order to overcome the challenges and achieve its objectives for the current year.
